simon hasan: put a coin in and get a vase

London

In this project London-based designer Simon Hasan obviously questions the role of handmade within the modern production system. Simon showed the installation ‘Industrial Makeshift’ at the Northampton Festival. He transformed this idea slightly and presented it 2 months later in London.

Simon’s handmade leather vases were available to purchase from a coin-operated customized vending machine. The term ‘Mass-Made’ combines the products main character with the platform it is sold on.

Simon at Tom Dixon‘s Dock, where he had his temporary studio during the London Design Festival this year. You were able to watch him make the pieces for the vending machine.

This are the wooden moulds for the vases. Simon was inspired by english drinking vessels in the 17th century
