sanaa: stack boxes in the city

New York

It looks like someone made an incorrect cake delivery and dumped it Manhattan. But what can I say, I just like the contrast building, the New Museum for Contemporary Art, by Tokyo-based architects Sanaa designed.

Looking at the building, you could be forgiven for thinking that Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa didin’t consider windows for this city building. I should mention that the building does have traditional glass under it’s mesh disguise. I can’t get enough of the exterior but I am very disappointed about the not existing effort inside. So much, that I won’t even show pictures. Google it and you will see yourself.

A colourful element on the shoeboxes is a piece by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. The rainbow-coloured lettering ‘Hell yes!’ just makes you be in the right moment, in the right place.
