to be taken prisoner

Düsseldorf. Germany. the CPD is going on. another fashion fair. rosner invited the fashion scene to celebrate 40 years of being in the biz. the location was an old factory building, the topic was ‘chic jail’.

to summarise: to me this was another event about appearance. lot’s of people who’s main interest is to appear as somebody they are not. so the photos you see show what I liked about the show. and on purpose there are not so many people on the pictures:

rosner2.jpgisn’t it 40 years?

free culture in public space

Berlin. Germany. On my way to catch a subway I saw this.

In the alexanderplatz, in the hallway to the U2 and U8, you see this small ‘retrospective’ on salvador dali’s artwork. hmm, dali (again), you may say, matylda, get original. Wait a moment. It’s not that I am an admirer of surrealism or under heavy influence of “düsseldorf/münchen/maastricht” art conformity – I just like unusual ideas and here is one.

what I like about it: there is no one claiming this piece of work.
there is no indication of who did it. I haven’t seen a personal note, either. somebody just put dali’s work on this dirty, yellow construction site wall. it’s accessible for everybody.

the advert:
“dali – the exhibition. economy. smaller…. but for free! ‘dali has never been presented like this before!’, exclaims one of the private loaners of the exhibition in joy.”

my favourite website

Most websites are made without a characteristic style, in my opinion. Most of the time there is a certain dominating arche-type. You see the same fonts (verdana, arial, trebuchet ms etc.) and in the majority of cases the same composition.

Here’s a case which goes for more individuality:

It’s the Homepage of Oliver Voss – one of Jung van Matt’s creative heads. He is inventor of the slogans ‘Du bist Deutschland’ ( You are Germany ) and ‘3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . meins!’ – Ebay ( 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . mine!) who are 2 of the most known slogans in Germany. Oliver likes it short with a likeable directness. That’s how advertising should be. And I think you also see it in the style of his website.

holidays starting in the hippie way

Maastricht. Netherlands. Carneval is going on. That means that we have one week holidays, because the South of the Netherlands is crazy about it. (Look out Cologne! Maastricht is coming!) The City is full of people from everywhere. Everybody is drunk or trys to get drunk. You see people with strange costums. Clowns, different sorts of animals, hundred princesses and the smurf parade.

I will attent on a Woodstock party tonight. Pictures on how the average creative masquerade are coming tomorrow.
In this spirit: 1 night of peace & music
