tom astrella: me and my sneakers

tom astrella is a london-based designer. despite still dabbling in product design, tom’s dedication over the last 3 years has been designing footwear for puma‘s high end fashion ranges. he is not just a shoe creator, but also a shoe collector. with about 60 pairs of sneakers in his arsenal, he is still constantly looking for more treasures to squeeze his dainty size 46’s into!

berg & kather: distinctiveness in fashion

vera berg and petra kather are a fashion label. they launched berg & kather during their studies. vera graduated this year. petra in 2006. both at the academy maastricht. last weekend they were presenting their clothing at the shopstop shop in the old wyckerpoort shops in maastricht, netherlands.

rose etherington: dezeen blonde no.1

rose etherington is the assistant, co-editor and right hand woman of marcus fairs and rupinder boghal, founder of dezeen, online design and architecture magazine. together we have soup for lunch, chocolate for breakfast and champagne in the evening (at all the receiptions). If you google her name you find loads of design but no picture of herself.. till now! besides, I am the dezeen blonde no. 2.

e pellicci: mama’s cooking for ya

something else than design.. a couple of days ago a friend took me to e pellicci in bethnal green, london. I found myself in a small cafe full of people and activity. a real greasy spoon caf’ with italian charm. It is owned by the pellicci family for over a century. mama pellicci is standing in the kitchen and prepares you a proper dish. if you go there don’t miss the chips. these are mama’s best. lovely nevio even remembered what I had to eat the last time. to sum up: e pellicci is the social institution of london and is on the right track to become even mine.
