my tie wraps experience

I have been asked why I don’t show what I did with the amazing tie wraps. so here we go: (the pictures are from my old portfolio)

last year eduard sweep gave us the assignment to design a chair from one material. I used rubber foam and tie wraps. and because I go in for tie wraps I used them also for the transparent collar for frans megens. when you use so many tie wraps your hands are hurting – almost bleeding. I guess the human body is able to use 20 of them a day. not more. my total respect to the students who were part of the project in the pinakothek der moderne.

so, (maybe) the last munich story… another must-see was the installation of the interior design department of the academy of fine arts munich. in one of the exhibition areas in the pinakothek der moderne was this impressive ‘tie wrap world’. like a snow paradise. except that the snow was plastic. actually it wasn’t just a must-see also a must-touch. the students worked 16 870 h to realize this. amazing.

denise fort: goddess of the black marker

I met denise fort at the designparcours. I came into her showroom and was situated in an illustrated world. besides, I need to admit, I am a big fan of black and white drawings. so I felt good where I was – in denise’s world. we talked like good old friends and if I haven’t had to leave, I would have stayed longer. today I received my personal illustration from her. how nice! lalala

jewellery: the fat booty of madness

another post about munich. I have been there for 2,5 days but there was so much to see that you will read more about munich in the next days. this is an exhibition from the academy of fine arts munich in the pinakothek der moderne. works by all the graduates of the otto künzli class are on display. this ecompasses almost 80 artists, from 1990s until today. a great diversity and range of formal and conceptual approaches.

I am back from munich with an overload of impressions. the city was great. the weather bad. the former ‘heizkraftwerk’ was my first adress. it’s the heart of the designparcours. here are some people I met and their work:
