lapolka: inflatable glassware

Berlin

Everyone remembers the Italian PVC blow up furniture that was invented in the 60s and that are back in production for retro rooms. Modern materials make them even better. But I still think they just found a niche in student accommodation and in the homes of the trendy middle class where they are usually consigned to a corner of a room.

Polish design duo Lapolka transformed the idea of the blow-up into a grotesque and humorous version of an unbreakable cup. Marta Bialecka and Anna Piwowar designed the ‘hand-blown glass’ which they presented during the DMY Design festival in Berlin last week. If you don’t want to drink out of it you can maybe stack them onto each other and sit down.
